Although I certainly didn’t listen to Oingo Boingo in 1985 (I was rocking out to Sesame Street then) But I grew up and refined my taste you could say…For me nothing says Halloween like Oingo Boingo, I love these two tracks…There are some things which will never change.

Sorry quick Halloween post for you I am afraid, end of the month deadlines and clients who have waited until the very last possible day to submit their shit are keeping me quite busy…If I die from being over-worked I will haunt them…Sweet revenge. ;)

But when your done listening to Oingo Boingo why not head over to the Contrast Podcast and see what the other Armadillos chose for this weeks Contrast Podcast #31 “Music to watch ghouls by” suggested by my favorite Armadillo FiL HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Stay Safe and DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE!!!!!

Since I need to test the new host I thought I would post a favorite…Beck’s, Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime off the soundtrack from one of my favorite films, The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Enjoy! And wish me luck with this new host. :)

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – Buy

I actually just recovered this post from a firefox crash, that is the greatest thing ever. Ok so I have some new music I want you to hear plus this weeks Contrast Podcast and down below I have posted my CP #30 runner-up track…

First off I thought I would switch gears from my previous post and mix up some of the more somber releases that I have found myself enjoying…A little folk, a bit dreamy but ever so lovely.

Damien Jurado, And Now That I’m In Your Shadow (mp3 expired)

And Now That I’m In Your Shadow

Calexico, All The Pretty Horses (mp3 expired)

At The Crossroads: A Benefit For Homeless Youth

Frankel, Necessary (mp3 expired)

At The Crossroads: A Benefit For Homeless Youth

I highly recommend At The Crossroads it is 22 track compilation that is just fantastic

As I mentioned above this weeks Contrast Podcast is up and it is fantastic, I think it kicks some major ass, and you will most certainly be surprised. My contribution here for ‘A song I like by a band I don’t’ is ‘We’re all to blame’ by Sum 41 was an easy choice but I do however have a runner-up…A mellow runner-up indeed…

Sufjan Stevens, To Be Alone With You (mp3 expired)

Seven Swans

And this is about as close to the Sufjan Bus as I will ever get…So yeah I tried, I gave it my honest effort really I did but I just can’t honestly say I am feeling any Sufjan love besides the above song off his 2004 release.

Cheers.

Sleepy

10,000 years later I present a little mix to shake things up a bit. And if perhaps you may not consider the below songs loud enough to be considered “Rock” then go open your own blog because this is about as loud as this little lady gets. Have a great Monday!

If Only – Kooks
Inside In/Inside Out (mp3 expired)

Assassin – Muse
Black Holes and Revelations (mp3 expired)

Gold Lion – Yeah Yeah Yeah’s
Show Your Bones (mp3 expired)

Are You Going To Be My Girl – Jet
Get Born (mp3 expired)

Move – Sol Seppy
The Bells of 1 2 (mp3 expired)

Vitamin R (Leading Us Along) – Chevelle
This Type Of Thing Could Do Us In (mp3 expired)

I attempted to post this while at work and just as I went to preview and publish half of it vanished into thin air. I have no idea what happened but I decided to save and come back to it when I was home.

So I am home :)

I have new music but first off, Contrast Podcast is up and awaiting a visit from you.
This weeks theme: ‘2006 So Far (Part 3)’
My contribution to this weeks CP is a song that I have not posted here and has not received a great deal of attention but Alif Tree is fantastic and you will find other wonderful unheard songs of 2006 I assure you.

Thomas Meluch is a 20 year old prodigy in my opinion. Meluch is Benoît Pioulard and he has just released Précis, a 15 track album that is a work of art. Meluch draws from everything possible and then creates music that is so unique and original but at the same time the music appeals to all. I highly recommend sampling the below tracks and I urge you to support this talented young musician.

Links now sample tracks

Also, I am interested to know what you thought of the CP track by Alif Tree…So if you feel like it feel free to speak up or forever hold your peace.

Well not really lights but Halogen music. An Australian band that have been making music since their first release in 1999 with Into The Crash Barrier. Their latest release Sirens takes you through 12 dark pop tracks that are filled with lush melodies and heavy guitars.

And Halogen might be the only band I know that doesn’t have a freaking myspace page (Mentok). I can’t believe it!

– Halogen, I’m Still Waiting (mp3 Expired)

– Halogen, Sad Love (Drive) (mp3 Expired)

It is raining here
Comforting

Walking in rain
I missed the feeling of raindrops on my face…

Two tracks off the Possible Selves, self titled debut for your sampling pleasure.
Neal Williams resides in Georgia and he strikes me as a bit of an odd ball, but then again who isn’t? He can make some lovely psychedelic folk rock. :)

The rain continues on.

Possible Selves, Nowhere Space (mp3 expired)

Possible Selves, Takers (mp3 expired)

I have one confession…I am scared of thunder…

I know it is terribly girlie of me…
It is just a little scary, I know it means no harm, but still…

You think you know someone…But in the end you really can only know yourself.

Emma McGlynn & The Monorails, The Murder Set

Since there was not much to discuss in the last post, I am moving on…

The London based band Emma McGlynn & The Monorails have just released their second album entitled The Murder Set. Old guitars and soulful beats are matched with beautiful melodies and lovely vocals.

Good night

After some technical difficulties Contrast Podcast #28 – Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy! is up.
I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this weeks CP, it was really awesome. It was great to hear from two new contributors who kick ass: mjrc over at lost in your inbox and Mentok over at Mentok the Mind-taker. So go check out all the delightful tunes that will definitely put a smile on your face. :)

3epkano, Self Titled

I need sleep…Glorious sleep.Listen to Dublin based 3epkano, I will return later to discuss.

Sometree, Hands and Arrows EP

Thank you for the kind words in regards to my previous post, I appreciate it. I am all smiles thanks to you. :)

Now on to the music…Alex, Bernd, Björn and Sebastian make up Sometree they hail from Berlin, Germany and their discography dates back to 1998. I have to make up for lost time…But just recently they have returned home for some rest and relaxation and I heard their 6 track Hands and Arrows EP, which contains a couple of very lovely remixes along with the original album version and a couple of other wonderful songs. Immediately I was hooked…Wonderful dreamy melodies drenched with layers of guitars and strong vocals.

So two tracks to sample:

Be advised that the following computer remix sounds as if it is skipping towards the beginning but rest assured that is supposed to sound that way. Enjoy.
