I attempted to post this while at work and just as I went to preview and publish half of it vanished into thin air. I have no idea what happened but I decided to save and come back to it when I was home.

So I am home :)

I have new music but first off, Contrast Podcast is up and awaiting a visit from you.
This weeks theme: ‘2006 So Far (Part 3)’
My contribution to this weeks CP is a song that I have not posted here and has not received a great deal of attention but Alif Tree is fantastic and you will find other wonderful unheard songs of 2006 I assure you.

Thomas Meluch is a 20 year old prodigy in my opinion. Meluch is Benoît Pioulard and he has just released Précis, a 15 track album that is a work of art. Meluch draws from everything possible and then creates music that is so unique and original but at the same time the music appeals to all. I highly recommend sampling the below tracks and I urge you to support this talented young musician.

Links now sample tracks

Benoît Pioulard,
Triggering Back (mp3 expired)

Benoît Pioulard, Ash Into The Sky (mp3 expired)

Album available directly from Benoît Pioulard or kranky and emusic

Also, I am interested to know what you thought of the CP track by Alif Tree…So if you feel like it feel free to speak up or forever hold your peace.

i like it, it’s very romantic in a sort of late-night-old-fashioned-nightclub kind of way, while waiting for your lover or something.

Totally completely love it. I’m not really a trip-hop fan, but this one works it.
    I like your blog too.

    Awesome! Glad you both enjoyed.

mjrc, what an excellent metaphor, well said.

Fraser, thank you so much. BKLYN Song of the Day is an inspiring blog, really great work you are doing over there. Cheers!

Yay! I’m so glad you like it!

Given that your taste (which is quite brilliant) seems to run to the dark, I was wondering if you have an opinion on my “most-miserable-song-ever” post: http://brooklynsod.blogspot.com/2006/10/contest-of-sorts-so-i-was-considering.html

fb–considering your own inclination toward the somber songs, may i say that you have lucked into a goldmine of said music between the likes of myself and rachel. would you agree, rachel? ;-)

“Forget your troubles, come on, get happy…”

*FiL disappears under a shower of flower petals, Belgian chocolates, pungent cheese, dogs, and other lovely things*

mjrc, I would most certainly agree. ;)

and we can always trek on over to fil’s for our happy fix, coz he lives on the sunny side of the street!

Well, truth be told, it does cloud over and rain even round my way from time to time. And then out comes the Joy Division umbrella until the sun breaks through again.

But you’re all welcome on my side of the street, no matter what the weather :)
