I actually just recovered this post from a firefox crash, that is the greatest thing ever. Ok so I have some new music I want you to hear plus this weeks Contrast Podcast and down below I have posted my CP #30 runner-up track…

First off I thought I would switch gears from my previous post and mix up some of the more somber releases that I have found myself enjoying…A little folk, a bit dreamy but ever so lovely.

Damien Jurado, And Now That I’m In Your Shadow (mp3 expired)

And Now That I’m In Your Shadow

Calexico, All The Pretty Horses (mp3 expired)

At The Crossroads: A Benefit For Homeless Youth

Frankel, Necessary (mp3 expired)

At The Crossroads: A Benefit For Homeless Youth

I highly recommend At The Crossroads it is 22 track compilation that is just fantastic

As I mentioned above this weeks Contrast Podcast is up and it is fantastic, I think it kicks some major ass, and you will most certainly be surprised. My contribution here for ‘A song I like by a band I don’t’ is ‘We’re all to blame’ by Sum 41 was an easy choice but I do however have a runner-up…A mellow runner-up indeed…

Sufjan Stevens, To Be Alone With You (mp3 expired)

Seven Swans

And this is about as close to the Sufjan Bus as I will ever get…So yeah I tried, I gave it my honest effort really I did but I just can’t honestly say I am feeling any Sufjan love besides the above song off his 2004 release.

Cheers.

You really have a surprisingly rocking side to you! I almost wish you would have gone with your second choice–between that and Marcy’s and Natalie’s picks, it would have shaken the tree.

The great thing about this theme is that it gave us the opportunity to say, loud and proud, musicians we don’t like. I’m finding great comfort and relief in discovering that others also dislike certain living legends.

I, likewise, am definitely not on the Sufjan bus, but I feel almost embarrassed to admit that these days.

Ah, the calm after the storm. A gently lovely post-rawk comedown offering.

And I never thought I’d see the day you’d post Sufjan. Nice to see you waving to Colin & myself on board SS Stevens as it sails past you & Richard on your Sufjan-free island… ;)

Keep doing that which you do so well!

i agree with fil–keep on doing what you do. i mean, what if we all liked the same music, whose blog would we visit to be treated to bands we’d never find on our own? : )

sufjan stevens is like the messiah of the mediocrities.

would you ever consider posting international music on this blog?

wait…does this whole “music blog network” even work that way?

    man, i feel like a n00b
    :P

    “He’s not the messiah, he’s a very naughty boy…: ;-)

Suraj, I think we’re all open to all kinds of music. At least I am, and I’ve posted accordingly. But of course individual blogs tend to focus on the relevant blogger’s personal preferences and likes.

Also, by international I presume you’re referring to music outside of the Western / Northern hemispheric idiom? Because there’s certainly a lot of non-US posted around…

Hey thanks for putting me in as one of The Elite…that was very kind of you.
As for Sufjan, the one you’ve got is marvelous, as is “Chicago” and “They Are Night Zombies…” Outside of those (and the Christmas album), Sufjan doesn’t do much for me. I don’t think he’s bad, per se, I just don’t think he’s doing anything that exciting (read: experimental).

fb, this is true…It would have shaken the tree but for the first time my CP selection came to me immediately so I didn’t create doubt…For once.

Mentok, that is awesome that means you can join coxon and I on our Sufjan free island…That is of course if he hasn’t banned me…

FiL, I thought you would like that. ;) Thank you.

mjrc, :) without you and the other Armadillos I would be quite miserable…Stuck in a world of over-played one hit wonders…It would be hell.

surajsharma, that is a valid question no reason to feel like a noob…We were all noobs at one point. ;) As for posting international music…I will listen to anything…e-mail me: devbeauty@gmail.com

Matt, the pleasure is mine, thank you for the link as well. And I couldn’t of said it better myself, he is simply not doing anything that is ground breaking…
