Joshua Radin, We Were Here

Now, I am well aware that this album was not released on June 27, 2006 but rather June 13, 2006 and although I am not really liking the album cover (I think it would be a little better minus the lame picture of him on the door hanger), but I am loving the music inside.I am not going to carry on for long, I wanted to be in bed three hours ago…But before bed…
I have to say thank you…Tonight I was in a dark place, I just had a rotten day and tomorrow is going to be just as bad because that pill of a client is going to freak…But that is not the point…

The point is that I came home and read Pogo a Go-Go and Let’s kiss and make up… and I laughed, I cried and I heard some fantastic music. To Fil and Colin, reading your words and listening to your selected music is truly the high-light of my day and for that I thank you both. Cheers!

Also, how awesome was it to open up iTunes and see Alexi Murdoch up on the Indie Spotlight!!??!! It was so great! :)

Now my selections of the day are from Mr. Joshua Radin who is also a singer/song-writer type, and although Alexi stands high above anyone else in my book; Joshua would be my second choice, indeed.

Syd Matters, Syd Matters

This post began last night…Then it came to a screeching halt when I hit a dead end at EZ. But after an hour commute to work, a long day at the office, conversations (plural) with ONE (singular) client where I bit my tongue multiple times and the temperature was so hot that when I walked outside I thought I was going to suffocate…After that I am finally able to sit here and post this…

mp3: Syd Matters, Passe Muraille.mp3

But wait…You may be wondering why I have only posted one song. Well I am posting one song because I know for a fact that I will be posting more later on this evening and I simply don’t have an unlimited amount of space…
But if I can get up enough energy I am hoping to conquer the space problem and then since yesterday was new music Tuesday I have some things brewing. I could take the easy out and post something from the leaked Muse, but that wouldn’t be very much fun at all.

*UPDATE*
I must apologize.
What matters? Well I think what matters is that I freaking remember to post a link to purchase and sample more of the Syd Matters self titled album…I must apologize, but now go

Today it was unbearably hot, so you know I was miserable, now there is a chilly wind picking up…Eerie

The last couple of days have been quite strange, some crazy work related things have my head spinning…I will elaborate later at some point, when I sort through the rubble.

I am quite tired and bed is inviting me to sleep. It will be lovely…

So tonight I leave you with some music from the Devics and their new album Push The Heart (March 2006)

I must give fair warning this is one of those emotional roller coaster kind of posts…Because The Kooks are a rare breed to begin with, not many bands can pull off their broad spectrum of sound. But they do a damn good job. Although they are not brand new (especially to friends in the UK (Hi Guys!)) they are what I am feeling at the moment…

Then last night I was typing up this entire post with the music of the Clogs…But I got into this whole thing about the film an inconvenient truth, which I saw last weekend. But I just felt like I got too preachy so I scratched it and just posted it as my current film pick. I immediately thought the Clogs would accompany any mention of this film, I don’t know why, I guess it is just what I am feeling ;)

Anyways more later…For now I leave you with the selections…

*A little later*

Ok it is not a little rather a lot later, but here are the selected songs from the awesome bands above…

When you are driving on the highway going 80 mph and you see something which resembles cardboard, keep in mind that objects may appear to be a lot of things while going 80…And there is a slight possibility that it could be something a lot heavier than cardboard…Like wood, a solid board of wood.

Yeah, so I ran over a board of wood…

After the loud bang, I hear a scraping sound coming from the bottom of my car…I was either dragging the board or some part of my car on the road.

Damage= Bumper was wounded with a nice deep gash to the bottom grill (I don’t know if this is the actual term for this part of the car but it sounds good)
And the plastic cover that protected the bottom of my car was hanging off…It could of been a lot worse, but it did take me an 1:30 longer to actually arrive home.

Anyways…I know Alexi is still quite the talk (I love him)

I have been wanting to post something…But I have yet to get to Fingerprints to pick it up, I know I could most certainly purchase it online but I would really rather have it in my hands rather than in my mailbox…I am impatient…

But I did come across something new that I thought I would share. Although this band didn’t blow me away, it seems like it is growing on me quite rapidly.

Tanakh, is lead by singer Jesse Poe and they recently just came out with their fourth album, Ardent Fevers in April.

I am really enjoying this band, and they most certainly put a smile to my face…Even after the freeway fiasco.

I don’t know if I am just emotional because of the Father’s Day frenzy or if it’s stress…This evening I read the lyrics to Alexi Murdoch’s song entitled, Song For You, off of his 2002 release, Four Songs…I couldn’t hold back the tears from falling…

I think sometimes I come off as someone who is so confident and comfortable, but the truth is I am not at all. I question everything, and although this is often vital for progression of my being…I often question too much, to the point where it becomes destructive, halts all potential progression. And this is something I have been aware of for quite some time, which then causes me to fear that this is one of those life long lessons…

It is too late or way too early…The simplicity of this song is beautiful. The bare bone honesty resonates in your mind and the gentle melody holds you close…So the lyrics and the song:

So today I wrote a song for you
Cause a day can get so long
And I know its hard to make it through
When you say there’s something wrong

So I’m trying to put it right
Cause I want to love you with my heart
All this trying has made me tight
And I don’t know even where to start

Maybe that’s a start

Cause you know its a simple game
That you play filling up your head with rain
And you know you are hiding from your pain
In the way, in the way you say your name

And I see you
Hiding your face in your hands
Flying so you won’t land
You think no one understands
No one understands

So you hunch your shoulders and you shake your head
And your throat is aching but you swear
No one hurts you, nothing could be sad
Anyway you’re not here enough to care

And you’re so tired you don’t sleep at night
As your heart is trying to mend
You keep it quiet but you think you might
Disappear before the end

And it’s strange that you cannot find
Any strength to even try
To find a voice to speak your mind
When you do, all you wanna do is cry

Well maybe you should cry

And I see you hiding your face in your hands
Talking bout far-away lands
You think no one understands
Listen to my hands

And all of this life
Moves around you
For all that you claim
You’re standing still
You are moving too
You are moving too
You are moving too
I will move you

My sincere apologies for the lack of posts…It has been a bumpy couple of days and I have been struggling to hold on to my sanity.

Sunset doesn’t last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
It’s not always going to be this grey
-George Harrison, All Things Must Pass

I was debating on what to post because I have a number of things brewing…But after some consideration I thought I could use a little pick me up and for that I turned to Gotan Project and their new album, Lunático, which was released April 11, 2006. I am sure there are quite a few people thinking, “been there done that” but I care not…There is something about their sultry mix of Spanish lyrics, hypnotic guitars and sexy beats that I just simply can’t ignore. Hopefully it will spice up your day or your night.

I want to crawl under my bed and hide for awhile. It all catches up with you, this world, this society…My self, I am not comfortable in this place but it is overwhelming to think about all that I need to change. I guess this is what I am scared of, facing it all…It brings a lonely feeling.

And as I sit here on this Sunday evening I find the perfect sounds to accompany me…Trespassers William
I was asleep when they came out with their most recent album in February, but I didn’t fret about that because as soon as I listened to the melancholy sound of this band I was taken away to a far off place.
I plan to return now… Good night.

Alexi Murdoch, Time Without Consequence

Oh dear. My heart is all a flutter when I hear the music of Alexi Murdoch, his new album above was released this week…I just can’t get enough of his somber sound, it is so beautiful. Then I saw this…

And suddenly I have turned into one of those obnoxious squealing girls (well not literally, but I was squealing in my head) I think you can guess where I will be tomorrow night…

By the way could this week be any longer? It is never ending and I even had a day off on Monday. What gives? Anyways, allow Alexi to soothe your soul…

I just recently started using iTunes…Now, I understand where they are coming from with the whole protected file bullshit, I think it’s great but I also think it really sucks that I have to jump through hoops in order to do what I want to do with the music I purchased…I mean this is that whole debate, should everyone be punished because some can’t handle it? I think that is unfair, but at the same time I don’t really see any other way, I am in the publishing industry and I have seen the affects of the net in the publishing world it is not pretty, but just like everything else it is adapting. Playmodel. I guess I just feel like you shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds you…If you get my drift…

After a painful lesson, I believe these will do…Colin, let me know if you decide to get this album.
