It is quite a daunting task to re-install everything and try to get re-organized again… It sucks to be frank. I mean yeah my computer is running faster but my life is all over the place… To make matters worse I totally forgot about backing up my bookmarks! I just lost 6 years of my internet life… Devastating… Yes, I am being a tad over dramatic about the whole wiping of the computer thing but I had a ton of bookmarks and there were memories in those bookmarks… Most of all I miss the way everything was set up like the way Firefox, Songbird and Photoshop were nicely organized just the way I liked them… All of that is gone out the window and I have to try to get it back. Help me!

So I sit here tonight listening to the new teaser from Antony and the Johnsons entitled Another World. A five track sampler of the full length, The Crying Light, set to be released January 09. Another World is a beautiful EP that has totally sparked my interest in the new album. Relax and enjoy.

But this time it’s personal. Not only is it a song that has yet to be released but we don’t even know if there is a full length version recorded! Back a couple of weeks ago a Lincoln Car Commercial came on and who was singing? Cat Power. What was she singing? “Space Oddity” by David Bowie. I think one of the Ford Marketing team members is a blogger…

And I don’t mean to mention something old but when the Olympics were on guess what one of their inspirational athlete story pieces was serenaded by? Band Of Horses, “The Funereal”. Also, I was in a Gap a couple of months back and Band Of Horses was playing in there as well. The song is genius and they took it and beat it to death with sticks and stones… I just want to scream, “They have other amazing songs you nit wits!” Seriously… I have heard it so much it has lost some of it’s original appeal. It is sad but true.

Of course I am making a bigger deal out of this for shits and giggles but there is some truth here… I do feel like music is sacred and I am happy that they are getting paid the big bucks to do these commercials and get this publicity. I also think the commercials and Olympics could credit the artist’s who are giving them their art, their music. But instead I see none of that, they don’t credit them at all and that my friends is what pisses me off. Alright, I will get off my soap box now… hehe

mp3: Remember Me (Otis Redding cover)

Cat Power eMusic Session EP

Did seeing Radiohead live reach all my expectations and then some? Well… Radiohead delivered. Period. They are awesome and it was just solidified seeing them live. Radiohead is one of the most inventive and intelligent bands, the music they create has taken my breath away on more then one occasion; their music is a work of art.

The downfall was the venue and location of my seats… I had lawn seats, which wouldn’t have been that bad but this Cricket Ampitheatre had the WORSE big screens on each side of the stage you couldn’t see the band! I am little people! 5’2″ I couldn’t see shit… The reason I got stuck with lawn seats in Chula Vista (2 hours away) this time around was because when the tickets went on sale I was in the midst of having an on going debate with myself about whether or not I could afford them at the time because I was unemployed and BROKE so at the last minute right before they went on sale I knew I would regret it if I didn’t see them so I raced to my nearest Ticket Master and there were like 5-6 people in front of me… Sigh.

I still felt like it was worth it because they are such amazing band and I love them. From now on though no more doubting! Quite honestly front row tickets would be worth the price to see them live, they are just that good.

Conor Oberst 2008 (Merge Records)

You may know Conor Oberst better as the frontman for Bright Eyes.

Yeah. That sums it up right there. I am in a terrible mood, just awful. Which, sucks for Haley Bonar because I feel like I am not giving her a proper write up but I have mentioned her once or twice before. I am just not into it tonight. A new track off her new album just shuffled right on and just seemed to fit with the mood I am in so I thought what a better time then now to mention her new album. Enjoy and good night.

I have been on a Belle & Sebastian kick lately. I haven’t always been the biggest fan of their music… However recently I have begun to see the light. Simple yet kooky Brit pop? How could I not love that? So tonight I post a very interesting track of theirs, which you can find on the Help: A Day In The Life album. A really awesome album filled with a handful of fantastic artists benefiting children around the world affected by war… Thought I would post the lyrics as well. Cheers!

Help: A Day In The Life 2005 (War Child)

I’m sitting around at the checkpoint
Keeping myself to myself
My heart’s going out to the girl with the gun
She is young, she is fun, she is deadly

She clock’s off, goes back to the city
Goes to a club with her friends

I just took a walk through the checkpoint
Past columns of poor Arab sons
They queue through the day for a chance to make pay
For something to put in their mouths

He can’t sleep at night without gunfire
The lullaby puts him to sleep

We stand there accused of the British collusion
Israel into Palestine
A victory for some an astonishing hope
But for him it has brought devastation

He lives like a prisoner in exile
He lives like a prisoner in hell

Doves black and white in the blue vault of space
Swoop around like a symbol of peace
Can they see the hawk?
They’re too busy in talk of love
Why should they contemplate fear?

Everyone meets in the cramped city streets
Hipsters of zion collide
To talk music and dross
At the sign of The Cross
We eat our falafel in peace
The girl let’s her uniform slip
The boy cracks a joke he is sweet
He’s listens to Hip Hop in Gaza
She listens to Coldplay in Lod

Thought this was a cool find, found it on Google images, they are all so young!

Tickets for Radiohead went on sale this weekend, Saturday at 10:00AM and I was there at my closest Ticketmaster location because as some of you remember last years shenanigans…I was quite disappointed. So this year I thought screw the internet crap…I was actually not there until 10 on the dot and there were 4 other people in front of me…So I got tickets but my tickets are general admission in San Diego/Chula Vista on Wednesday, August 27th. Not my first choice by any means but for Radiohead it is worth it.

Saturday I went to see Explosions In The Sky play at The Soma in San Diego…Why 2 hours away in San Diego you ask? Well, EITS doesn’t seem to like playing in LA…Anyways I probably would have driven farther than 2 hours to see them play, I was really looking forward to hearing them play their new album. As some of you know their new album was one of my favorite albums of 2007, which you can find HERE.

I have never been to The Soma before and I am always a little uneasy about seeing bands I love in a strange venue…Well this place was kind of grungy but that was part also part of it’s charm as well so I rolled with it…I rolled with it until someone fucked up and called the band out before the sound guys were ready and I rolled with it until we were packed in like sardines…Which was actually a good thing because it made me happy to see so many people loving this amazing band! But it also was a serious hazard and I also didn’t like the vibe of some of the people there…But I tell you what EITS manages to sedate you with their passionate performance, they totally get into a trance like state which is infectious. The music was mind blowing to say the least and I really found it interesting to hear the growth in their music. They started the show off with some of their older stuff and they progressed into their new album and it really demonstrated the growth of the band as a whole, their direction was just so much more focused and I really think they have done something glorious…This album is gorgeous front to back, so I had to share another one of my favs.

P.S. I picked up their 2 x LP, which has some juicy remixes on their so as soon as I get off my lazy ass and hook up my laptop to my turntable of goodness I will share some of that…You know you’re jealous :)

mp3: The Birth And Death Of The Day

All of A sudden I Miss Everyone 2007 (Temporary Residence)

Album available HERE and HERE

Yeah, no joke I have a really bad headache and I have had it since mid day. The first thing I did when I got home from work was just whine all the way to the shower because basically that is the only time when it doesn’t feel like a hammer is banging on my head. So tonight I must keep it short and sweet, no new music this evening but Dustin O’Halloran is perfect, gentle and beautiful.
