Sunset Rubdown Bless Me
Filed Under Album Picks | 9 Comments
Sunset Rubdown just released their newest album, Random Spirit Lover. Good old Sunset Rubdown are beginning to become a staple in my music collection. Winged/Wicked Things is probably my favorite song on the album it is filled with so much passion and force I just love it, tis quite powerful indeed.
Speaking of force, the force hasn’t been with me as I return my defective iPod. Sending it as we speak back to Apple, where they will then in turn refund the money, where I then will purchase it in store so to avoid any shipping issues in the future just in case I happen to get another defective pod. Weeeee! I will keep you posted, I am sure you will be hearing it if I do indeed happen to get another rotten Apple.

Beirut, The Flying Club Cup
Filed Under Album Picks | 13 Comments
In the past couple of years I have listened to countless bands but no other band touches me deep in my soul quite like Beirut. Maybe it is because of their distinct sound or Condon’s one of kind vocals, or even the sure love for music that speaks volumes in every one of their composed tracks. Most likely it is a combination of it all and I can’t get enough. Beirut’s second full length album, The Flying Club Cup is a progression of sound, a delightful dance of French chanson and one of my favorite albums of the year. I see them live this Thursday, October 11th at the Avalon Hollywood.

The Most Serene Republic & iPod Woes
Filed Under Album Picks | 4 Comments
So I kind of have had a rough couple of days…I got a marvelous present from (guess who*) just because. The new 80GB iPod Classic! It is beautiful and sexy. I have been an iPod Apple fan for a long time, in my opinion there isn’t a better mp3 player but unfortunately my new iPod came in the mail and I immediately plugged it into my laptop and the errors began. I got an error while syncing, I got an error while uploading manually, I got an error for ejecting and I even got an error for looking at it (I kid, I kid that last one didn’t happen but it seemed like it did). We went into the apple store and of course they haven’t heard of anyone else having this problem but if you go onto the Apple forum there are people commenting left and right about this same problem. So currently we are trying to see if we can exchange it for a new one that hopefully doesn’t have the same defective nature. I will keep you posted…
In the mean time check out the newest album from this Canadian based band (I know, I know I am applying for citizenship as we speak Mentok) The Most Serene Republic has been soothing my soul the last couple of days. Enjoy!

Holy Radiohead
Filed Under Music Mix Up | 14 Comments
Ok I am sure everyone has heard the news…Radiohead is set to release their new album next week on their own without the help or hindrance of any label. Not only that but they are even having their fans input the price of the digital download that will be available directly from Radiohead’s website. This has caused record label execs to shake in their boots, I am sure some will suffer permanent damage like some sort of nervous twitch will develop because of this. But regardless I have to stand proud and salute the band for possibly paving the way of the future for the music industry and hopefully opening the eyes of some of these record execs. For more information check out Green Plastic
But what do you all think?

I am digging this band! The Poison Control Center is an Iowa band that make some lively indie-rock. Their debut album is filled with psych-pop rhythms and energetic lyrics, which come together to make a solid sound that I am enjoying indeed.
Other than that the days don’t seem to be getting any shorter but I’m keeping myself entertained by playing a little Halo 3, which is proving to be harder than I thought but addictive.

This Beautiful Weekend
Filed Under Music Mix Up | 10 Comments
It rained on Friday and it continued on into Saturday! It was glorious! But I noticed something…The people of California really can’t handle rain. It is a hard adjustment to make and within the first rain drops the city kind of starts to break down, things stop functioning, people stop driving and I wouldn’t be surprised if some people melted.
The rain cleaned out the smog from the air and for the last day and half the sky has been bright blue with big beautiful fluffy clouds floating in the cool breeze. Glorious indeed.
A mix for you to enjoy!

New Buffalo Plays
Filed Under Album Picks | 6 Comments
New Buffalo helped take my Monday blues away…This Monday was not like most Monday’s as instead of waking up at the crack of dawn to go to work I had to wake up at the crack of dawn and serve Jury Duty…Oh my dear friends this was my first experience and oh how I wish it was my last. No one wanted to be there, I didn’t want to be there but alas all of us were summoned to the courts of hell to serve justice! Thank goodness it is over…Now I can rest assured I won’t get another Jury Summons for at least 12 months but after that I am fair game…Bastards.

Film School, Hideout
Filed Under Album Picks | Leave a Comment
Film School is a five member band from San Francisco that have survived troublesome times after the bands main man Greg Bertens was jumped outside a Columbus, Ohio club last year and their van was stolen in Philadelphia, which contained all their equipment and to shake things up a little more they lost a few of their band members as well.
But Film School has prevailed and this past Tuesday they released their second full length album, Hideout. An album filled with soaring guitars and driving rhythms which manage to take you away to far off places.
