I am digging this band! The Poison Control Center is an Iowa band that make some lively indie-rock. Their debut album is filled with psych-pop rhythms and energetic lyrics, which come together to make a solid sound that I am enjoying indeed.

Other than that the days don’t seem to be getting any shorter but I’m keeping myself entertained by playing a little Halo 3, which is proving to be harder than I thought but addictive.

Did you get through the first 20 seconds of the first one? Because after the first 20 seconds the song turns and I think it has a catchy “driving” sound.

So there will be no booooooing or hissing here ;-) glad you liked the second pick.

    Hehe…hehe
Quite honestly I don’t really like the first 20 seconds either but personally the rest of the song makes up for those horrible first 20 seconds. ;-)

you crack me up over here…

I think its represents a car spinning out of control?

That is quite insightful. I like it!

I’m having trouble reconciling your musical choices with your video game choices. I even tried listening to Make Love a Star while playing Castle Wolfenstein to see if I could get a similar effect, but I just couldn’t seem to get the two in sync ;-)

Knowing these guys a little, I tried to talk them out of including that first 20 seconds at the start of the album. Apparently it was controversial in the band too, but they insisted on sticking with it. The rest of the of album is great.

They should have listened to you Dan because a lot of people turned them off before the rest of the song could persuade them differently. But I agree I like the whole album. :)

I disagree, I love the way the album starts so hard. I had the same reaction when I first heard Charmer from Kings of Leon, now it’s one of my favorites of thiers. Just give it time and buy the album, then you’ll get it:)

I heard these guys on the current today and I was impressed so I decided to check em out. I think the beginning of the song is pretty neat. It is a musical interpretation hence, an art. That’s what makes it theirs and no one elses. Good luck guys. I dig it.

While the first seconds of Driving scared the shit out of me the first time I heard it, I gave it a chance and ended up LOVING this entire song. It has a upbeat feel to it after the intro…makes you feel like you are..well..Driving! Yet another gem from this hidden gem of a band..

I know I totally agree! The first few seconds totally scare the shit out of you but then it just turns into an awesome song. Glad you like it too!
