Tonight we will do things a bit differently…There is no method to this madness, no this evening or early morning hour depending on how you look at it is simply what I have chosen to lose myself in…Some select songs.
“Let it wash over me” he said.
And so I did.
And just a heads up the first song is supposed to sound like that…Nothing is wrong with it…Just enjoy it.

A Swift and Simple Transaction
Filed Under Album Picks | 3 Comments
It is quite rare for me to decide the music that I post in anything less than an hour at least.
There are those few treasures however which seem to fall into my lap from the heavens above, then upon first listen I know, there is no doubt…
- Alexi Murdoch (Not a surprise to most of you)
- Trespasser’s William
- The Kooks
There are others but there are also different levels depending on first impressions, the number of tracks on the album that stand out in my mind and most importantly,”Does it age like a fine wine?”
Obviously R/R coseboom has been added to this list…”Beneath Trembling Lanterns”Â’ is the new album from Rebecca and Ryan Coseboom, which is their first album apart from their Halou project.
An intricate album that deserves and demands your attention…

AMBER SMITH, RePRINT
Quite a trying week
I think this would be my own doing
which is harder to take…
pride?
but why?
I have this desire to simply jump in my car, turn on my pod and drive…
go 100 mph the whole way to no where…
I feel so stuck
but I must be done with this pity party
Shall we move on? Yes I think we shall… Amber Smith came out with their new LP, Reprint in Feb. of this year, which was produced by the one and only Robin Guthrie from the Cocteau Twins. Guthrie’s ethereal touch certainly shines all through out this fine album. So tonight I invite you to take a listen…

Technical Difficulties

*We are experiencing technical difficulties*
Rough couple of days…
And you can hear a freaking pin drop around here, sheesh. Speak up people, feedback is always welcome.
But since I like music, you like music and some people over there like music then even though my laptop seems to be in bitch mode, I thought I would share something I ran across recently, it was not released in 2006 (Gasp!) Rachel’s will leave you just in awe, my kind of music indeed.

Some may not be with me on this one because A Whisper in the Noise seem to have a somewhat eclectic rather dark sound. But I do think this new album deserves some attention…Tonight two tracks off their new album As the Bluebird Sings.

A Whisper in the Noise, Through Wounds We Soon Will Stich (mp3 expired)

The End and The Beginning Of Cuban Heels
Filed Under Album Picks | 1 Comment
Well I generally don’t post bands that are no longer making beautiful music together, but since it is late and I did want to post something on Saturday (even though technically it is now Sunday) But most of all I do like these two songs, they just sound appealing I think, they leave you just thinking, “yeah that sounded good”
The Cuban Heels are no longer well “The Cuban Heels” as of July 2006 but before their departure their finale single was also released in July on Sugar Shack Records. Such a shame these guys decided to call it quits but at least we can still enjoy the music and remember what once was.

If you haven’t seen V for Vendetta well then I most certainly recommend a viewing. Two tracks from the film I heard on V’s jukebox I simply had to have…

Talk, ‘Bypass Control’
Filed Under Album Picks | 1 Comment
This was quite a difficult post to complete…Indecisive and I like to make things difficult on myself, it is a terrible habit/trait/disorder what have you…Straight to the point though, as I have been fighting off the sniffles for the last two days, I am fading fast…Actually I faded about 3 hours ago…But you know tomorrow’s Friday, cheers!
Talk recently released their new single ‘Bypass Control’ on July 31st. If Talk doesn’t sound familiar to you then how about Telex? If neither ring any bells then go here and learn all about them on their myspace. Sorry I would love to go on…But really it is unnecessary for me to restate their space…I will say that this band is a mesh between Sigur Ros and a pinch of Radiohead with their own psychotic twist thrown in (their video gave me that creepy mind fuck feeling) but the music is quite good.
Happy Friday to all!

"Rock Out Mix" Part I
Filed Under Music Mix Up | 8 Comments
Come to think about it, I must come off to some as quite a bore…Well I am most certainly a mellow brew to say the least…But I do rock out on a daily basis even if it is just for a moment. I must admit the rock side of me is bit more mainstream than I would like it to be, but I do try to expand my horizons as much as possible.
I suppose the phrase “rock out” is really quite relative…For me? “rocking out” is me just letting go, throwing out the genre’s, the classifications, and anything else that may hinder my ability to enjoy the music for what it is, great music ;)
I had originally started this mix out with a “new release” restriction, but I don’t think that would be an accurate example of “Rachel Rock” (yeah I am fully aware of my lameness there)
Anyways, I have opened it up to just some of my favorite rock tracks…I am really opening myself up here, I think this mix exposes a side of me that is rarely seen by most…I don’t know what that means.

I bid you all a goodnight, a good morning and a good afternoon (so many time zones, so little time) That didn’t really make much sense, but whatever, I am sleepy…Does that excuse work? ;)

It is so past my bedtime it is just silly…So real quick a few things:
1. Colin, great idea a “rock out” mix tape is in the works as I type, I was going to post this evening but sleep is essential for this little one.
2. Make sure to check out this weeks Contrast Podcast #20 (this one goes out to…)
Tim was kind enough to allow little old me to contribute this week, actually I just finally got off my ass and did it. So go there NOW (sorry I am just kidding, just go there sometime today if you have time and if it is not up yet….well then check back later. :)
3. SLEEP
