If I had it my way I would be on my way to the beach right now blasting the dreamy pop music of Real Estate. My reality? I am jumping in the shower and heading to work. Whatever you are doing today the music of Real Estate makes everything better. Enjoy!

The music of Braids draws me in, I can’t stop listening. Their shimmering guitars and the glorious ambient breaths in their music make Braids a definite upcoming artist to watch.

I apologize for the sparse posts this week… Just didn’t have a lot in me, felt pulled in 10 different directions. Looking forward to a weekend where I can just relax, listen to some new music, oh and do homework.

I got on the freeway tonight after work and it was backed up for miles, quickly exited and headed South to the coast. I took Pacific Coast Hwy all the way home, and enjoyed the cold crisp night with the window slightly open and my ipod shuffling. I realized how lucky I am and what an amazing and privileged life I live… I am taking Pacific Coast Hwy home from now on.

I have been listening to The Memory Machine for a couple of weeks now and it is just beautiful from beginning to end. Julia Stone‘s vocals are angelic, hushed and delicate.

It has been unbearably hot this week, my “unbearably hot” is anything over 80 degrees. How can I complain about that you may ask? Well, we have been spoiled rotten, the weather in Southern California has been beautifully mild for the summer and I dig that. I do not dig the heat however, and I turn into the Wicked Witch of the West bitch mode all the way. Last night was the worse of it, so hot that I couldn’t even sleep with a fan blowing directly on me. The cherry was the mosquito sucking my blood in 3 different spots one of them being my cheek! Well I was not having it, I jumped out of bed and flipped on the lights and hunted that mosquito like the vampire it is. Needless to say there is a tiny little stain on my wall… The mosquito and the flea are the two insects I have no problem killing, probably because they make me so uncomfortable. I have terrible reactions to bites, my flea bites are the size of a normal mosquito bite and my mosquito bites are just down right swollen and painful. Not a pretty sight.

Thank goodness tonight it is a lot cooler. There is a beautiful breeze flowing through the windows, quite pleasing. I have been listening to Skybox lately, a Chicago based band, who make groovy rock melodies mixed with just the right amount of fun pop. They are currently touring all over this nation.

Tonight I am attending the OC Music Awards… Now I am not really one for events, I am too much of an introvert. But it is one of our clients so a bunch of us from work decided to get a table… I have never really explored the Orange County music scene all that much and I think this is because quite frankly I fear it may live up to the stereotypical radio bullshit that I just don’t care for…  I have somewhat disregarded the possibility of anything good coming from the OC music scene. Well I was wrong because behind all the fake generic music there are some real musicians making some honest, original music. The Yellow Red Sparks have caught my attention with their new EP,  Simply Put Me In Your Place. I have to say I am excited to have been introduced to this kooky band from Southern California, the EP is filled with beautiful acoustic melodies and gentle vocals that have really surprised me. Cheers!

I am kind of in a less is more mood this evening…Where you don’t feel like typing and you certainly can’t even fathom actually putting together constructive sentences…Do you ever find yourself in this place?

Paste Music Sampler Pick #2 from Paste Magazine issue 3/2008 is a bit of a dreamy pick, the kind of music I would want to accompany me while I was horseback riding on the sands of Bali or maybe something a little less dramatic…

Pip helped with this new feature, thanks Pip! I decided to start a new feature where I pick a favorite song from my monthly Paste Music Sampler. Sound like fun? I hope so. This months pick comes from Music Sampler #38 and my pick is by the lovely UK indie pop rock darling Kate Nash. Her new EP, Foundations is available now in the US and look for her new CD single Pumpkin Soup coming soon.

As for me I have an interview tomorrow so do wish me a bit of luck and I will let you all know how it goes. :)

It’s freaking Friday! I wasn’t sure I would survive there for a little while. This sickness knocked me on my ass. But I started feeling better yesterday and I do certainly feel better today just in time for the weekend! Yeah!

I thought I would start with some new music…I am kind of letting the hype die down in regards to the Radiohead download release, because you know me… :)

In other news I did get a working iPod and it is grand. I have so much room I don’t even know what to do with it all. Ha! Just kidding. Anyways this iPod has restored my love for the Apple mp3 player, there really isn’t anything better on the market in my opinion. So cheers to Apple’s iPod! And cheers to you know who for getting me such a marvelous gift.

Coltrane Motion, Songs About Music

That’s what I call reinventing music in the digital era. One of the things that I talked to my client about a lot is the time of year that they want to take their engagement portraits. The first thing that I recommend is not having your engagement portraits taken in the same season that you will be married in. Brilliant.
