Read wonderful news today… New Radiohead coming late this year… Yes please! They say it is something totally different but I trust that is nothing but good news. I am excited but trying not to think it over too much as I don’t want to jinx anything.

In honor of this excellent news here is an acoustic version from a recoding based in Los Angeles in 1994. I don’t know which I love more, the original full version or this acoustic treat… It is a tough one.

I feel like I have been sitting in traffic most of the week…

I am angry, need to train myself to just chill out. Let it roll off my back… It is hard, a constant struggle of knowing that all these little petty annoyances are nothing in the grand scheme of things. I know this. Just need to constantly apply it in my day to day life.

This song has always put me at ease. The beat calms my soul and the voice on Beth Gibbons makes all my troubles go away. It shuffled on in my car right as I got on the freeway heading home from work. I turned it up.

So ever since I first listened to Dead Heart Bloom I have pretty much fallen head over heals in love with their music.

I want to give the whole band a big hug, scream their name from the top of a mountain so everyone knows just how awesome they are.

It only takes one listen to fall in love with them. Everyone I have suggested them to has adored their music and then recommended it to a few other people and so on and so on… This makes me ever so happy inside.

Dead Heart Bloom has a new album coming out in August 2010… Very excited. They are releasing an unreleased track each week up until they release the album. Must I is a track that the band just couldn’t fit on to their 2008 EP, In Chains. I love it. xx

I had a one-track mind today, The Twilight: Eclipse Soundtrack.

As I have mentioned before I could care less about the movie or the books, but I do know the music is always going to be good. It is certain that you will find a favorite song, maybe a few.

When I heard Heavy In Your Arms from Florence + The Machine, my heartbeat started to increase. I might have even squealed and jumped around a bit… I love the deep booming bass along with Florence Welch’s wailing vocals, this song is easily one of my favorite songs of 2010. Brilliant.

The translation of La Vie En Rose is Life through rose-colored glasses.

I want to see the world through rose-colored glasses.

So tonight, I went back in time…

Perfection.

I have to wonder why on short work weeks they always seem to take the longest to go by… I think this is just a “Rachel issue” but seriously it feels like it has been 2 work weeks already and we still have one more day to go. Sigh.

So I spent an hour in traffic on my way home today when usually it is about a 30 min drive door to door, I felt defeated…

I put my iPod on (my savior) and smiled when The Middle East shuffled on, they are playing 2 shows at The Music Box in LA today and tomorrow (coincidence?). Lovely little band that hails from Australia and who I have yet to see live but have heard nothing but wonderful things.

I melt when I hear Laura Marling sing… Melt into a puddle on the ground. Her smokey singer-songwriter folk songs combine with deep complicated lyrics, impressive… Beautiful. I love this new album…

mp3:  Goodbye England (Covered In Snow)

I Speak Because I Can 2010 (Astralwerks)

I am obsessing about this song right now. Josh Ritter is not my favorite but this song and a few others have caught my ear on his new full length album… This song is an absolute must. xx

So Runs The World Away 2010 (Pytheas)

I have been waiting for this debut album from this Minneapolis duo to come out for months… The time has finally arrived this Tuesday. This is a collaboration between Peter Pisano and Brian Moen who create a stunning album of songs that we can all relate to. A definite must for 2010 and Peter Wolf Crier is a band to keep your eye on. Enjoy! xx

Feel ever so defeated this evening.

I have a frown that just won’t turn right side up.

I guess you can call it the Monday blues… Although, I think in the end it is a bit more than that.

What is more perfect then The National on this cloudy Monday evening? I can think of nothing else. I am sure you have come across The National in recent news, magazines or other music blogs but their fifth full length album, High Violet was released last week…We will get to that in coming days. but tonight I want to revisit one of my favorites off their 2007 album, The Boxer.

I love these lyrics…

Standing at the punch table swallowing punch
can’t pay attention to the sound of anyone
a little more stupid, a little more scared
every minute more unprepared

I made a mistake in my life today
everything I love gets lost in drawers
I want to start over, I want to be winning
way out of sync from the beginning

I wanna hurry home to you
put on a slow, dumb show for you
and crack you up
so you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
god I’m very, very frightening
I’ll overdo it

Looking for somewhere to stand and stay
I leaned on the wall and the wall leaned away
Can I get a minute of not being nervous
and not thinking of my dick
My leg is sparkles, my leg is pins
I better get my shit together, better gather my shit in
You could drive a car through my head in five minutes
from one side of it to the other

I wanna hurry home to you
put on a slow, dumb show for you
and crack you up
so you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
god I’m very, very frightening
I’ll overdo it

You know I dreamed about you
for twenty-nine years before I saw you
You know I dreamed about you
I missed you for
for twenty-nine years

You know I dreamed about you
for twenty-nine years before I saw you
You know I dreamed about you
I missed you for
for twenty-nine years

– The National, Slow Show
