Work all day and then headed to class. Pounding headache for the last 4 days that comes and goes. I am making a bite to eat and then going to bed. I will return tomorrow…
Bonne nuit  xx

*Update*

I have been having issues with my web host and server issues with bandwith. All that behind the scenes stuff, which is why I have been MIA. Now that we have everything under control I will certainly have something new to put together as soon as I get home.

ZAZA-Cameo

OK… So… It’s hot. It is blazing. In fact I do not remember the last time it was this hot. It has been a very long week, work has been crazy busy and my days have been long. Tonight though I just want to lie back, relax and listen to some chill music. ZAZA is a small band hailing from Brooklyn, NY, their debut EP is like a bowl of yummy shoegazer ice-cream. Perfect on a blistering summer night. LOVE.

One of my best friends since 5th grade got married over the weekend in La Jolla, California. She actually had her civil ceremony a few months back and decided to do a small intimate ceremony for some of their closest friends and family. It was lovely from beginning to end and I am so happy for both of them. Mazel Tov!

Her father and her walked down the aisle skipping to The Beatles, All You Need is Love (the skipping was impromptu and it was perfect).

almost famous

Almost Famous is one of my top five favorite movies of all time, hands down. I know many will agree. I have seen this movie so many times I could almost recite it line by line (Not really actually. Fact: No matter how many times I have seen a movie I still can’t recite lines. It bothers the shit out of me.) But anyways I have seen this movie at least a dozen times and I am not one to watch movies over and over so there is proof.

Now, as for the soundtrack? Well… It is A M A Z I N G! It is so wonderful I wasn’t sure if I could select just one song… My two absolute favorite songs are America by Simon & Garfunkel and The Wind by Cat Stevens (aka Yusuf Islam). In the end though this song is gorgeous and at times has even brought me to tears. I love it so much…

p.s. I really didn’t plan to post this #20 on 8/20 but how awesome. :-)

Lightning Dust

Oh dear… I just feel so uninspired lately. I think I am just in one of those summer ruts, I need a break from everything, I need to just go out and experience a bunch of the things that I love doing, new activities, old favorites. I have not gone to a movie in forever, how sad is that? I need a vacation from work, sometimes it seems that is all I do. So I have been trying to figure out where to go… San Francisco? The Desert? (wait I would melt in the Desert so scratch that one off the list). I live at the beach so there is no reason to go to another beach… I don’t know… Maybe I should see if any of my favorite bands are playing anywhere interesting and go there. That might work.

While I figure out where to enjoy some of my paid time off, I have been listening to Lightning Dust and Amber Webber’s vocals shine as always. This side project of fellow band mates Black Mountain is stripped down to the minimum to showcase the dark melodies with just the right amount of twang. I like it. :-)

cat power wind

I was driving home late last night and this song shuffled on… It was nearly perfection, as only Chan Marshall herself can deliver. I go on a Cat Power love fest from time to time, where I listen to her non-stop and all I want to do his let each note consume me… Marshall’s music just feels right, like coming home. Her melancholy ballads and intense smoky vocals just soothe my soul, she is probably one of my favorite female singer-songwriters of all time, if not #1. I am so indecisive even when it comes to the lovely Chan Marshall. *sigh* Cat Power  will be playing a show at The Greek Theater in LA on September 9th.

On another note I am currently digesting a handful of new albums recently released, I will certainly return with some of my favs.

True Blodd

I just started watching the first season of True Blood today, I had to see what all the hype was about of course. I won’t deny it… Pretty much hooked at this point but I don’t know how satisfied with it I am. At least with this first season, it just seems rather awkward at times and some of the characters seem a little forced to me. Over all I am intrigued though and I can certainly say that I am officially hooked.

Now on to the music, when I first heard the intro song I thought for sure it must be Chris Isaak, however I was incorrect. Bad Things is sung by Jace Everett who is much more country western than Chris Isaak will ever be. But yet this song has a lot of similarities to Chris Isaak’s, Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing … Too similar you think? I don’t know, I mean he does put his own swing on it…

Now, I know this might be a surprise to some people, stones might be thrown for this country western pick but I am prepared to stand behind this fun and naughty little ditty.

The Royal Tenenbaums Soundtrack

I know I should have resurrected this freaking feature a long, long time ago… But you know what? I am doing it now so…There ya go.

Why I have not done this film a long time ago is a crime! Lock me up! The first time I saw The Royal Tenenbaums I really wasn’t sure how I felt about it and I hear I am not alone on this, which is comforting. Of course then I saw it a few more times and fell in love. I fell in love with this cooky family that loves one another but doesn’t know how to accept the traits that make who they are. I love this movie from beginning to end and the music… Well… It is a Wes Anderson film so the music fits perfectly with the theme and mood of the movie of course.

It was not easy to select a favorite tune either… With music from Nick Drake, The Ramones and Elliott Smith, it was not an easy feat by any means. But in the end I went with the one and only John Lennon. Pitter patter goes my heart.

The Royal Tenenbaums (Collectors Edition) 2001

Just wanted to post a quick little message… I am getting my computer set up and working out the kinks, last night I ran into some issues with eMusic and my browser… So hopefully tonight I can put something together for a new post.

Sometimes it is just hard finding the time to post, working full time, trying to find time to work-out, eat and sleep… I am tired jst thinking about it all. :-)

Appreciate the patience.
