This Beautiful Weekend

It rained on Friday and it continued on into Saturday! It was glorious! But I noticed something…The people of California really can’t handle rain. It is a hard adjustment to make and within the first rain drops the city kind of starts to break down, things stop functioning, people stop driving and I wouldn’t be surprised if some people melted.
The rain cleaned out the smog from the air and for the last day and half the sky has been bright blue with big beautiful fluffy clouds floating in the cool breeze. Glorious indeed.

I lived in California for 5 years and have just recently moved out. I knew I had been in CA too long when it would start raining and I was so excited, I would go outside just to feel the rain.
here is something you may find interesting in case you havent stumbled across it yet. wes anderson’s new short film called ‘hotel chevalier’… “a prequel of sorts that was made a year before “Darjeeling” even began filming”
Anderson’s goal apparently would be for all future Darjeeling viewers to view this first.

Anne I am with you I have certainly been in California too long, I literally jump for joy when it rains here. I need to move to Seattle for awhile I think.

seriously I think some people did…now it is all back to the same old same old: 70 degrees and sun, sun, sun.

i suggest, for the sake of human progress and all round happiness, that californians move to glasgow and glaswegians move to california for 6 mths of the year. then the whole rain/sunshine/smog/storms thing would be in some kind of ‘natural balance’.

Wow, I have heard a little of them but not enough to form any real opinion. I will have to take a serious listen now that I have your approval and recommendation. ;-)
And I think your 6 month trade is a smashing idea…I just wish it was possible.
To be fair, they have ‘changed musical direction’ a little of late. Now, much more post-post-rock in a Mogwai meets Muse meets Sigur Ros meets electronic-beep-beep-Radiohead kind of way. I love them dearly, already. The lead singer looks great and sings like an angel. The music belongs to them all and is brass-section-enhanced-tastic. :)
And yes, if only.
