I Would Slip Into The Groove
Filed Under Album Picks | 4 Comments
When it comes to Radiohead I find myself to be quite biased. When I found out their new album was going to be released within days I literally jumped up and down with excitement.
My initial reaction is I felt they have come home. Home to the music of Kid A, but a grown up version. There is an electro beat bumping drive that is at the forefront in most of the songs that just makes me want to dance. Bloom, Lotus Flower, Codex, Separator are the stand out tracks on this 8 track long album… I have to question the length of the album for a moment, they have never released an album this short. I am about 95% certain that the Newspaper Album will have quite a few more tracks on it which means there is more new music to come as well as a tour in the works. It is going to be a good year.
On their website, Dead Air Space they thank us for waiting… I want to thank Radiohead. Thank them for the beauty they bring me everyday, thank them for helping me to feel it “all”. Thank them for the music they continue to bring us year after year.

Currently crushing on this song right now. The Boxer Rebellion has released a new album, The Cold Still and I have certainly taken notice.
The mp3 appears a bit different, I am testing out SoundCloud.

The Decemberists @ The Wiltern

I finally got to see The Decemberists live… but before I go on can I just say how completely smitten I am with Mr.Colin Meloy. I think he is the bees knees. He is a quirky, geeky, guitar-playing cutie. The show was absolutely amazing, completely enjoyable. They did a wonderful mix of old and new songs, which pleased me quite a bit. I definitely had a new appreciation for the new album, The King Is Dead.

Beautiful Music Of Braids
Filed Under Album Picks | Leave a Comment
The music of Braids draws me in, I can’t stop listening. Their shimmering guitars and the glorious ambient breaths in their music make Braids a definite upcoming artist to watch.
I apologize for the sparse posts this week… Just didn’t have a lot in me, felt pulled in 10 different directions. Looking forward to a weekend where I can just relax, listen to some new music, oh and do homework.

Of Monsters & Men

Oh you will love Of Monsters & Men, an Icelandic band that is something brilliant. Who doesn’t like catchy acoustic folk that flows so effortlessly? I am keeping a close eye on them and I am impatiently waiting their debut album, set to be released this year.

Wings Wouldn’t Help You

Haunting, gorgeous and one of my most played tracks.
Roslyn – Bon Iver & St. Vincent
The Twilight Saga: New Moon 2009
Up with your turret
Aren’t we just terrified?
Shale, screen your worry from what you won’t ever findDon’t let it fool you
Don’t let it fool you…down
Down’s sitting round, folds in the gownSea and the rock below
Cocked to the undertow
Bones blood and teeth erode, with every crashing nodeWings wouldn’t help you
Wings wouldn’t help you…down
Down fills the ground, gravity’s proudYou barely are blinking
Wagging your face around
When’d this just become a mortal home?Won’t, won’t, won’t, won’t
Won’t let you talk me
Won’t let you talk me…down
Will pull it taut, nothing let out

The Beginning Of Mad Men
Filed Under Music Mix Up | 11 Comments
So I finally started watching the television series Mad Men… Unbelievable. Amazing. Fantastic. And I am only 2 episodes in, I can only imagine how much better it is going to get. Honestly, I am annoyed that it took me this long to start watching. I highly recommend giving it a chance… I think you will fall in love.
The selected track, the opening song for Mad Men of course.

The Phoenix Foundation

This song is something fabulous. The Phoenix Foundation is an indie rock band with a heavy alt-pop influence. These lads hail from Wellington, New Zealand, and their new album Buffalo is getting some well deserved attention.

I realized this evening the lack of Billie Holiday on this blog… No bueno.
A true legend deserves much more play time.
