Other Lives hails from Stillwater, Oklahoma, their debut self titled album was released this month… And it is really a well put together beautiful album. Their music has been said to draw similarities to that of label mate Radiohead and although I do hear a Radiohead influence the sound is entirely their own… Folk and rock mixed with a strong classical influence of gorgeous string and piano arrangements accompanied by haunting vocals. The whole album is an accomplishment indeed, I enjoyed from the beginning to the end and I hope you do as well.

Now, I thought this was a most appropriate moment, where all the stars aligned. I must wish dearest Pip a very Happy Birthday today, I hope it was a great day and an even greater year. Cheers Pip!

Ack, I missed it! Well, happy Birthday anyway. If my math is right, this is the top of the hill.

Hey! Okay, so I found your site because I was looking up stuff about daniel martin moore a few weeks ago, and you had propped him on here. but anyway, so i decided to drop by, and who do i see but the other lives?

i agree their music is great on the album. but i saw them live back in february because they were supporting delta spirit [who were freaking brilliant], and i was disappointed, really. on the album, you get the fullness of their songs, but it didn’t translate well onstage. SUPER nice guys [and girl], though. the other supporting act, dawes, is worth checking out, as well.

also, WHY THE LACK OF MATT COSTA???
i see you’re going to the oc music awards. i think he’s up for best indie.

Thanks Kallie for stopping by. I really want to see Other Lives live now, to see what I think.

Matt Costa is alright, he just doesn’t “sing” to me like lets say Alexi Murdoch does. Plus I wanted to high light someone who is not as well known. :-)

haha, well I can respect the bit on Matt. He just happens to be my favorite. There’s something about him that sings to my soul. I think it’s his large amount of focus on the melody. I’m big on melodies. :D Plus, live he is amazing, and he’s also the nicest guy I’ve ever met. And dorky and funny, as well. always a winner haha.

And yeah, I would definitely say check other lives out because it’s possible that they just had a bad night. You can post a little review. They’re on tour with the decemberists right now, i do believe {or will be soon?).

I really do love your blog, though. It entertains me haha
