I am in a blah mood…Very blah. This movie was good, well done I think. Although many critics thought Baz Luhrmann’s eccentric modern setting was too much paired with the original Elizabethan dialogue (for 1996) but I think it was just right. I got more out of this movie then when I read the play or saw the 1968 version…Of course there are 52 million other versions of this classic but still.

And then there is of course the song…*sigh* Just there are no words…Seriously definitely another Radiohead song that is at the top of my all time favorite list. There are three different versions of this song, this one being the Nellee Hooper remix, which has far less guitar than the original, I think this version is a bit darker, it is fantastic. Enjoy.

I bet your friends haven’t even seen the movie…Tell them to watch the first 20 min and then we will see if they still poke fun.

Oh yes, this was a fantastic version of R&J! And I thought the pairing of modern visuals plus Elizabethan dialogue worked a treat. And full props to Baz for turning on a whole new slew of folks to the wonders of Wordmaster Willie da Shaykz!

Wordmaster Willie da Shaykz! Haha that was clever. :)

I must admit that the movie doesn’t impress me all that much – it seems ridiculous (almost campy), mostly due to the antiquated dialogue coupled with the futuristic setting. That said, it is by no means a bad movie, I just don’t have any particular liking for it.
But this song? Love it. One of the best Radiohead b-sides.

I respect that I think it is certainly a movie that doesn’t appeal to everyone…But this song is definitely one of the best Radiohead B-sides ever, I think that appeals to everyone. :)

“Antiquated dialogue” – ouch, that stings. I thinkg you meant “unfamiliar dialogue”, Matt.

“Antiquated” suggests obsolete. Shakespearean English, beautiful and compact, will never be obsolete in my opinion. I wish I could speak like that. I wonder if anyone really did.
