1. Colin, great idea a “rock out” mix tape is in the works as I type, I was going to post this evening but sleep is essential for this little one.

2. Make sure to check out this weeks Contrast Podcast #20 (this one goes out to…)
Tim was kind enough to allow little old me to contribute this week, actually I just finally got off my ass and did it. So go there NOW (sorry I am just kidding, just go there sometime today if you have time and if it is not up yet….well then check back later. :)

Really liking Bedroom Walls. And I’m really looking forward to seeing what you ‘rock out’ to. I expect to see some Slayer on that list. : )

Oh, absolutely, Michael. I’d be disappointed if there’s no Slayer. I’m also expecting some Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death, and GBH. Heh heh heh…

Wasn’t it great hearing Rachel on the podcast at last … I put her right up front so everyone would hear her excellent choice. Thanks and I do hope it isn’t your last contribution!

Ooh, Tim, you tease! Gotta wait until I get home from work before I can listen…

Michael & Fil, while I don’t think Slayer (scans brain for Slayer file) will be making it on any mix tape I prepare anytime soon…
Pig Destroyer on the other hand, wow! I had forgotten about them, thanks Fil!!!

Tim, I noticed my placement…I thought I would would be all the way at the bottom because I was the last to submit and then there I am front and center (I turned red) :P

Fil, you and me both I can’t take it anymore!!!
*makes mental note to take off work on Contrast Podcast Tuesdays.*

I can’t *wait* to hear this mixtape.

And there was funny old me thinking all the LovelyOne played was acoustic shimmerings a la Alexi… :)

Speaking of Slayer, and please don’t laugh, I’m taking (at his request, note) Eldest Son (and friend) to see the ‘Unholy Alliance’ gig at the SECC in Glasgow soonish… and who is headlining this metal-death-sonic-overload event?

    Slayer.

    I.
    Just.
    Can’t.
    Wait…

Bedroom Walls – I especially liked ‘Kathy in her bedroom’. This is absolutely my kind of indie-pop.

Hope you got / get / had / will sleep :)

Never screw yourself over. Always get Union support.

    :)

Oh, Dearest Colin, Slayer! Be prepared to have a GREAT time!!

I saw Slipknot and Slayer on the 2004 Unholy Alliance tour. I went along for the former; I must admit a certain fondness for their brand of nu metal, in which I found a great deal of debt to (post-‘With Sympathy’) Ministry et al. On top of that there are the masks, which lend a slight Kiss-esque flavour to the proceedings.

Slayer didn’t excite me since I was never really a metalhead and at the time ‘Reign In Blood’ came out I was put off by the “are-they-aren’t-they-apologists-for-fascism debate.”

    But they rocked. And hard.

Granted, there was also a huge dose of (unintentional, I think) Spinal Tap irony (neon crosses as backdrop rotating 180 degrees as Araya is howling “GOD HATES US ALL”), but that only added to the fun. I still think the band sometimes a) takes itself too seriously, and b) does not acknowledge or address the full implications of some of their songs. Nevertheless, I enjoyed myself so much that I bought the t-shirt…

And Rachel, Pig Destroyer – you serious? Or am I having a sarcasm failure? Either way, I’m so very impressed…

P.S. Word Verification = pukudqy. Noun or adjective? Discuss, citing examples to support your argument…

Colin, I do hope you enjoy Slayer ;)hehe

FiL, I was introduced to Pig Destroyer from an old friend of mine a couple of years back…Although not my cup of tea I appreciate them all the same, I just can’t remember the title of this song from them and it is bugging me…Oh bother.

merz, where were you Mr.? Why didn’t you participate in this podcast? Hopefully we will hear you on 22 and 23. Thanks for listening ;)

“pukudqy” a definite adjective and my reasoning behind this? Well…because it sounds like pudgy…Errr because I think it is an adjective. :P
