Rushmore (1998)…Need I say more? I love this movie, another Wes Anderson creation and if you haven’t seen this movie…Then I don’t know what to say…But if you haven’t seen this movie then something needs to be done about that immediately.
As always with any Anderson film the soundtrack is fan-fucking-tastic and almost impossible to select just one track but you all know how picky I am so it is certain that I back my pick 100%
Wes Anderson is currently working on two films:
The Darjeeling Limited (2007)
(2008)
This is the one I am really excited about, adapted from the children’s book by Roald Dahl
And the Academy Awards are this weekend, and I wish I was going to Mentok’s bash but alas once again I can not teleport therefor I probably won’t even watch them. But I do recommend seeing The Departed and the awesome Little Miss Sunshine. Ok now as for the soundtrack pick from Rushmore…Enjoy!
Nothing In This World Can Stop Me Worrin’ Bout That Girl (mp3 expired) – The Kinks
Rushmore Soundtrack (1999)

Yes!! I love this movie!
I remember putting off seeing this for the longest time because I thought it would be stupid. After finally seeing, I realized what an idiot I was for waiting so long!
I didn’t know this movie… I didn’t know this Kinks’ song… Wow ! THis is a great song ! Thanks !
Nice. A favorite of mine as well — big fan of the film and the soundtrack. I have a Rushmore Academy shirt that I wear fairly often, actually. :)
Great movie, blah, blah, blah…
I am EXCITED about Mr. Fox, though! As you know I am quite the Roald Dahl Fan:)
Wes Anderson is a genius and so is this movie. I often debate with myself whether I prefer Rushmore or Royal Tenenbaums more. When I first saw Rushmore I just expected a slightly clever teen movie, but it delivered so much more. Highly intelligent, very funny, perfect performances (Bill Murray is perfect), extremely moving and a gorgeous score. The scenes between Max and his father are just so gentle and human. And I love Margaret Yang. God I love this film!
HA! That is awesome so glad you all love this film as much as I do.
Andy, I saw Royal Tenenbaums first so don’t feel too bad, it all comes in due time I suppose. ;)
Juniper, you must go to your local rental store and rent this movie tonight! Glad I introduced you.
Rich I want a pic of the shirt, that is awesome!
Joe…Yeah Yeah Yeah I know you have a love for Dahl that borders on obsession :-P Just kidding.
hehe Wayne I love the excitement, I share your enthusiasm indeed. Cheers!
Speaking of Rohald Dahl, I discovered recently that he wrote the screenplay of the James Bond movie You Only Live Twice. The look of the Ernst Blofeld character in this film served as the main inspiration for Dr. Evil in Austin Powers. I suspect Dahl would approve of the parody.
Thanks for the nod about the party. A good time was had by all. A little too good in my case: I’ve got the morning-after blues, I’m afraid ;-)
Have to echo the sentiments of everyone else… one of my favorite movies.
I also love the Who song in the flick, among many other great tunes.
