monsters of folk

I could sit here and give excuses for my lack of posting but quite frankly I have been doing this for almost 4 years now and I have gotten to the point where I post when I really have something to share, it is never forced and if it is it is never posted. I appreciate the readers who keep coming back even though they may get frustrated that they do not always see something new.

As I finish up the remaining part of this year I have been going through a ton of music. There is a lot I am catching up on plus I am checking my list twice to make sure I don’t miss anything divine. I am going to be sharing what I have heard that didn’t quite make the list in a little feature called, “And All The Rest”… Not to say none of these will make it on my year end list but most likely if I am posting it at this point it means I only really enjoyed a few choice tracks rather than the album as a whole. Fair enough?

Monsters of Folk is a super group that is an indie lovers Christmas morning, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), Mike Mogis and M.Ward. It really is an indie-folk lovers dream come true.

Hi Rachel! So happy to see a fresh post, but certainly even happier to hear your post are always true to you! You have a forever-fan in Tsururadio and you are one of the reasons why I started my own little bloggy blog.

Love the MoF album, certainly a indie-kids wet dream. Agree, it may not make my “top X” list, but definitely a sweet Sunday morning around the house kinda thing.

    Cheers,
    Aaron aka Tsuru

I just subscribed to your RSS feed, easy to see if there is anything new. I feel the same way about my blog — if I have something to say I’ll say it, I’m not going to make a bunch of filler. That would be like people who talk about the weather just to make conversation. :)

Haha that is a perfect simile. :-)

Couldn’t agree with your opening paragraph more. I’ve slowed down on the posting as it was starting to feel like a chore. Now I do it when I feel like it and it’s so much more rewarding.

As for MoF – sadly i couldn’t get past the first track. Just wasn’t doing it for me and I haven’t returned to it. Not often i do that. Maybe on your recommendation I’ll give it another try.

Hey Richard,it took me awhile to get into it and I really only liked a few songs off the 15 track album. It was a bit of a bore. A couple of gems though, like Temazcal.

On another note every time I see Mike Mogis anywhere for a split second I think it is you. And it is not just the glasses either, you have similar faces. You are secretly Mike Mogis aren’t you?
