I Know A Color Blue
I have been meaning to post about Agnes Obel for quite some time, but I just couldn’t find the right time until now. Her beautiful somber melodies are just what I wanted to hear tonight. Philharmonics is only available in Europe or through iTunes, I highly recommend it.
Voices in the street, footsteps on the concrete
Guess I hear just every sound on the ground
From my window view, I know a color blue
that can bite so very hard, the day apart
Picture fresh as water clear
days have passed without you here
Street lights dancing on the dark across the park
Waiting for a word from you, waiting for a sign or two
Footsteps on the city ground, you know the sound
Brother Sparrow, come tomorrow to my window
Brother Sparrow, come tomorrow to my window– Agnes Obel

Astounding. Would love to hear her duet with Alexi. And I love her blouse too! ;)
I just played it four times in a row so I guess that means I am off to buy it. I LOVE THE COVER ARTWORK SO MUCH.
I just bought this cd! Couldn’t agree with you more. Chilling, glacial melodies colored by beautiful strings, piano, harp and some accoustic guitar. Her voice is ethereal and floats atop the arrangements like a suspended dove brushing gently against the hushed beauty of the music.
Just Beautiful.
Colin, I agree! Great idea ;-)
In fact, there is a question that I am sure you might know the answer to Rachel! Has Alexi ever sang a duet with anyone, male or female?
Not released and not live in any of the LA shows I have seen.
He is such a perfectionist I wonder if he ever would perform a duet.
I wonder if he may have shared the Hotel Cafe stage with anyone when he had a set gig there. Possibly Priscilla Ahn? But I doubt it because I would have read about it somewhere. I am a little obsessed as you well know.
I am seeing him again in February! I can’t wait.
A healthy interest in all-things-Alexi is a very good thing! :) Thanks and enjoy the February show – please have a word with him after (or kidnap him) and post him back to Glasgow please… (I am half-serious – it has been way too long!)
subtle, beautiful and incredibly elegant. And her blouse is lovely too :)
