Death Cab For Cutie
Better late than never! Death Cab’s new album has been quite the buzz and I have to admit I was intrigued… Bixby Canyon Bridge just pulled me in from the start, great opening track really… But then I Will Possess Your Heart is like a slow screw drilling into your hand, I don’t know what happened it starts out with a funky bass line and along comes a lovely little piano melody but then it just goes all wrong. The album does redeem itself by the time Grapevine Fires hits you with its exquisite harmony… But I have to admit a little dark realization I had a couple of days ago… I was in Nordstroms shopping with my Mom and all of a sudden Your New Twin Sized Bed comes on… And I have to say I was annoyed and not just because it was playing at some mainstream store that my grandma shops at, but instead I think I realized what I don’t like about the album as a whole is that it was neither spectacular nor was it awful it was just middle of the road for me. I am left thinking Death Cab just doesn’t turn me on like my other lovers… It is sad… I wish it was different but some things just aren’t meant to be.

i am also not at ALL impressed by this album.
wish i wouldnt have wasted 10 bucks, and only bought a couple tracks.
its just … eh.
I know, I wish I had the chance to warn you, but with the re-design and crappy work I could only get to it now. Oh well!
I listened to the one track you had posted, it is … pleasant. Not too surprising that they have quickly made their way to Muzak status.
I think the last time I was in a Nordstrom’s, I saw an unlined, unstructured navy blue blazer with a yellow stripe. Sorta cute. $1100. Should have come with a pony, but no — just the jacket. I haven’t been back.
LOL yeah they were having their half yearly sale that is the only reason we went. I came out of there with a bra and a pair of flip flops that squeak when I walk! Bastards!
Glad you like the song it was one of the better tracks on the album and probably my favorite.
well i have to say i like the song but have to listen to the rest of the album. i can totally relate to how you feel when you hear something playing in a mainstream dept. store or anything alike. it kinda ruins it and makes you think the artist sold him/her/themselves short. it’s like when you see an artist you might have or did like who chooses to hang their art in a hotel, dept. store, etc… anyways, ill by this track and check out the rest of their album! have a good night.
