Quick Update
Filed Under News & Info. | 6 Comments
Hey everyone! It has been extremely quite around these parts because well I am getting ready to move next week and I have been quite busy trying to work and balance everything…It is all very difficult and I am sure you all can relate.Â
I am working on a little bit of a re-design for the blog as well so if you could all have a little bit of patience and stick with me good things are soon to come. But it will continue to be a little quiet until the actual move and a couple days after just to get internet set up and all that jazz. So please stay tuned! And I hope everyone is having a great Monday!Â

Wye Oak For Earth Day
Filed Under Album Picks | 4 Comments
Happy Earth Day everyone! Even though personally I think everyday should be Earth Day…We should really be taking care of the Earth all year long. Wouldn’t you all agree?
I was turned on to Wye Oak from Tara (thanks Tara). Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack are the two behind Wye Oak and they hail from Baltimore. Their new album If Children is an album filled with delicate yet passionate guitar pop. And yes it’s goodness.
Ok, so I have to run to work now, sorry it has been so quiet around here I will give you an update a little later, some big changes are brewing…But for now enjoy the music!

Smart People

When I see a film trailer that I’ve never heard of that has such a good cast as this, I’m either the first person to discover it or it sucks. I’ll look right away to the director… never heard of him. Could I be the first person to discover it? The thrill normally goes away quickly, as I have become jaded… oh so jaded. Damn you Lucas!! You have spilled my childhood like a samurai cutting open his own gut! Oddly enough, this film fell into neither of those categories, it was actually ‘pretty good’.
I would label this film as one of those that wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for a few decades of independent film, but doesn’t quite fit in with those rascals either. It’s like a grown up hippy without a cause and with a regular job, you know the type. Come to think of it, Dennis Quaid’s character is pretty much living in the wrong decade. No, not the 60’s, more like the 40’s back when being curmudgeonly was academic. He plays a widower with a lot of social aptitude issues that happens to have an adopted brother that’s a bit of a loser. He’s also got a good Republican daughter and a cute doctor that’s got a student/teacher fantasy in full swing. Thomas Haden Church pretty much plays the same character as he did in Sideways, only with a heart. Come to think of it, everyone is pretty comfortable in their roles mostly because they’ve done exactly this before.
There’s nothing necessarily wrong with this, the film was actually really entertaining. I don’t wish I got my two hours back or anything, but man, couldn’t this crew come up with something revolutionary? I think everyone went into this project with the full intent of it being edgy and new, but ended up just pushing out something fairly safe. That’s really my only problem with the movie, it just stood there in perfect balance right on the fence. All that said, I’d still recommend this to just about anyone in this dry spell before the Summer Rush.

Thought this was a cool find, found it on Google images, they are all so young!
Tickets for Radiohead went on sale this weekend, Saturday at 10:00AM and I was there at my closest Ticketmaster location because as some of you remember last years shenanigans…I was quite disappointed. So this year I thought screw the internet crap…I was actually not there until 10 on the dot and there were 4 other people in front of me…So I got tickets but my tickets are general admission in San Diego/Chula Vista on Wednesday, August 27th. Not my first choice by any means but for Radiohead it is worth it.

Yes, it is true Colin Meloy lead singer of The Decemberists has released a stripped down live album. Just his voice and his guitar and it is fantastic. Perfect for the mood I am in this evening…Gentle folk melodies serenade me to sleep.

Tapes ‘n Tapes, Walk It Off
Filed Under Album Picks | 2 Comments
I need to Walk It Off…I need to take a deep breath and forget that I am spending hundreds of dollars on soaring gas prices. I also need to forget that this Word Press update is kind of pissing me off because there are a bunch of errors popping up and now I am just sorry that I didn’t wait for them to fix all this shit in the next update…I am also freaked because my laptop is crashing before my eyes and I don’t know what I am going to do…
But seriously Tapes ‘n Tapes have proved they are worthy of being added to the goodness list, their sophomore album is quite impressive and I am enjoying blowing off some steam while listening to it.

Ahhh yes a wonderful album filled with some fantastic B-Sides and indie-rock rarities to tickle our fancy. I can’t say that the entire album is worth dance and praise but one of my favorite songs happens to be the first song on the album and I thought I would share it with all of you, hopefully you can listen and celebrate the end of the week. Enjoy!
