Favorite Records of 2007
Filed Under Album Picks, Music Mix Up, The Lists
So it is the end of 2007 and what a year it has been in the music world, so many great albums. The following list is a compilation of albums which I felt stood out the most in 2007. This year I really tried to concentrate on records in which I felt were filled with great songs all the way through from the first song to the last song. A list of music that varies containing everything from French chanson to R&B soul. I have really enjoyed writing for you all this year, it has been a rough transition into Word Press and I am still trying to find my bearings and I appreciate the constant support I receive from my readers; tis what keeps me going. Thank you to all and I look forward to sharing a new year of music in 2008 with you. Happy New Year!

Very nice, eclectic mix:) A few of yours have made my top 10 as well. I’ll let you know at the end of the week!
Thanks Joe, can’t wait to see what your list looks like.
I really love the list, honestly I don’t know if I could do a better one. Beirut I again have to thank you for. They now rank among my favorite bands ever, I look forward to every release. Also my soulful Sharon I wonder if we can catch live!
As promised…

Radiohead was the last cut…sorry.
Thanks Pip I could not of done it without you, thanks for all your help. :-)
Joe, I will have to check it when I get home, but man are you telling me you cut Radiohead from your list?! Crazy!
I am seeing Andrew Bird tomorrow in Sydney. Then Explosions in the Sky and Beirut tour next month, how lucky am I? Nice list, although I would have found room for Sunset Rubdown.
i don’t think i’ve actually listened to shannon yet….seems like a good time to start :)
That’s exactly what I’m saying…
Wayne, you have some excellent shows coming your way! You are quite lucky indeed. And I know I thought about it and then I thought of you and I knew you put it on your list so… That is my reasoning. :)
A very happy 2008 to you, Dearest Rachel!! Yes, I know I’ve been scarce of late, but you must believe me that whenever I hear Beirut or see an armadillo, I think of you… :)
you know which one surprises me most? the arcade fire. i seem to remember you not being all that hot on them–they must have grown on you. :)
FiL, I know you are still around, us armadillos never stray too far :-)
Marcy, I know Arcade Fire totally grew on me, which I knew it would. I just needed the hype to die down, but I consider it to be a solid album indeed in fact it made it over The Shins for me. I loved The Shins album when it first came out and then now I am not so hot for it. Go figure.
Great list, Rachel. You have to be an emusic person. Whatever list would contain Andrew Bird and the Cinematic Orchestra! I love Bird’s Armchair Apocrypha. A totally unexpected find — playing it every day lately.
Thanks Angelo! I am totally an emusic person it is my life, I find 90% of the music I post while perusing the emusic site. :)
Hi Rachel,
Thanks for stopping by my list. I think I can guess that you disagreed with Arctic Monkeys! :-P But agreed with Andrew Bird and Radiohead.
I’m really digging the Sharon Jones record right now…REALLY digging it
Happy 2008!
oh and have you listened to the Six Parts Seven cd? it’s less guitar driven than EITS, but I thought it was just as full of feeling and emotion as All of a Sudden…
oh, and did you ever get my email from a few months back? still interested in hearing what you’re up to!
Hey Tad!! Yeah glad to hear you like the Sharon Jones album it was a find on emusic, it is good stuff.
I have not heard the Six Parts Seven album but thanks for the heads up I will have to check that out.
I did get your e-mail I just have been really busy because I just started a new job so I am adjusting I will get back to you with all the happenings. :)
hi rachel,
no problem, i knew you were crazy busy but just wanted to make sure you got it. i’ll look forward to hearing from you, and in the meantime if you get a chance you should REALLY check out The Diving Bell and the Butterfly…it is beautiful. simply amazing.
got a chance this morning to go through your list.
if you and shane see sharon, count me in!
hadnt heard of shannon wright- or pela, i dont think. off to listen to s’more.
Yeah totally she would be awesome to see live, so much soul. And if you like Pela and Shannon I got you covered. ;-)
YEAH Explosions in the Sky. that record did not get enough love for how flat out amazing it is.
My sentiments exactly. I love that album front to back it is amazing. Now if they would just come to LA already!
