Oh yes this was music to my little ears…Yesterday Beirut announced via Pitchfork all the details on their 2nd album and a handful of U.S. tour dates…Drum role please…The album, which has yet to be titled will be released on October 9th on Ba Da Bing!

In an interview last month with Pitchfork Condon explained what to expect on the new album, “I was listening to a lot of Jacques Brel and French chanson music– pop songs shrouded in big, glorious, over-the-top arrangements and all this drama…very much throwing myself in the world of classical pop music”. Ok I am just going to come right out and say it, I am really excited!

    Malta… Istanbul…. Roskilde…? That’s some kinds crazy tour schedule. Wonder who scoped out those gigs for them.

    It was probably him, Zach is quite the traveler. At least now with a complete full-time band he won’t have to worry about playing 52 million instruments…

    it’s kind of weird, i just listened to rufus wainwright’s new album and had the exact same impressions that zach uses to describe his new one–dramatic, theatrical, over-the-top pop but in a very good way. i say it’s weird because i don’t hear much of a resemblance in their music. : )

    Marcy I will have to check out that new Wainwright album now, and that is weird but oddly now I am even more excited than I was before. ;-)

    did you know in sept. he’s doing a re-creation of judy garland’s hollywood bowl concert from 1961? i love it. he’s perfect for it, too. i wonder if he’ll do her moves, too.
