oh man, not only do i love soundtracks and compilation discs, but i see you have a sparklehorse track to boot? this must be my lucky day. : )
Various artist’s CD’s are the best and I am quite pleased I could contribute to a lucky day. :)
I always feel I’m getting a special deal when I buy a compilation. Probably something about all those different bands on one disc fostering a false sense that I’m getting more than I really am. Or something.
And Daniel Johnston, boy, do I love his stuff. I was fortunate enough to see him in London a few years back, and he was compelling. If you’ve not seen the documentary ‘The Devil & Daniel Johnston,’ I’d urge you to do so post haste…
I’m bound to like compilations aren’t I! Are we gonna hear you on the CP again soon?
FiL, I have not seen that documentary but it is going in my queue ASAP. Thanks for the recommendation.
Tim, compilations are right up your alley indeed. And yes I need to shape up here and submit my first contribution to the CP 2007. :) I am such a slacker.
I share Fil’s economic appreciation of compilations, yet since I was a teen during the 70s there will always be a corner of my mind that whispers “K-Tel”…those atrocious “Super Hits!” albums that blackened the name of compilations everywhere ;-)
BTW, did anyone else notice that K-Tel just started selling Mini-Pops again this Christmas?
that daniel johnston covers double cd is one of the most rewarding cd purchases i’ve made in a long time. (there’s this m. ward track on it and…) and yeah that docu is fascinating
