Jackie Brown 1997 is probably my favorite Quentin Tarantino film so far…I have watched this movie so many times, Pam Grier owns this film and Samuel L. Jackson plays his character Ordell to a T; Robert Forster is fantastic as well.
Jackie Brown seems to fall under the Pulp Fiction shadow, which is unfortunate because it is wonderfully written. This film is the reason why I have so much respect for Tarantino, because it was nothing like Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs, it was a different style but it still had that Tarantino flare that we have all come to know and love. So of course if you have yet to see Jackie Brown than all I’ve got to say is you have some homework to do this weekend, rent it, I expect to hear what you think by Monday! The soundtrack is filled with 70’s R&B delights, which makes this film All Time Favorite #15!
2 tracks for your listening pleasure…

mp3: (Holy Matrimony) Letter To The Firm (mp3 expired)- Foxy Brown

mp3: Midnight Confessions (mp3 expired)- The Grass Roots

Find it on the Jackie Brown Soundtrack 1997

Yeah that’s right I posted Foxy Brown! It’s no mistake, I actually have a secret love for hip-hop especially when it comes to the Notorious B.I.G and Foxy Brown; I just love Foxy’s bad girl attitude she can lay down some great tracks and as for the B.I.G? Well I mean he is “Notorious”, hip-hop will never be what it was when he was alive.

Also Grindhouse, the new film written by Robert Rodriguez & Quentin Tarantino is out April 7th.

I remember for some reason I missed this in the theater and then all my friends said it was ‘ok’. Of course we were in high school and stupid… but that’s beside the point. The point is that I didn’t see it until it came out on DVD (which is years later). I think maybe it was a good thing… I was not stupid for one, and two I had a whole new appreciation for film in general, let alone just plain ‘get’ this one and allow it to wash over me like all great films do… anyway, I’m off on a tangent – loved the soundtrack… he always introduces me to new music, just like you.

Your taste in movies continues to be unerring, just like your taste in music.

You sure don’t go in for very many “chick” films, do you? ;-)

Pip, I like you didn’t see this film until years later as well…It was meant to be I suppose.

Mentok, you know I am sitting here trying to think of some chick flicks I like…I know there has to be some…In general though it is very unlikely that you will see very many “chick” flicks featured as an All Time Fav because the story/plot is always the same and usually chick flicks have sappy lame soundtracks…But I am sure I could think of at least one or two that may be up here eventually. ;-) Thanks.

I’m always undecided as to which Tarantino is my favourite.

I think I’d have to plump for Pulp Fiction but Kackie Vrown is a close runner up. As you say, really well written, really well acted and as it’s one of the few film soundtracks I own, I can only agree that the sountrack is ace.

I would probably say though, that as good as Pam and Sam are, the movie belongs as much to Robert Forster who is just amazing.

Prob my least favorite of Tarantino’s solo directorial efforts, but still quite good. Doesn’t charm me like PF, RD, or KB1&2 for some reason. I do like the soundtrack quite a bit. That Bobby Womack tune KILLS, and The Delfonics… damn.

[…] list but that is because he creates excellent films and pairs them with just the right songs. Jackie Brown is by far my favorite Tarantino movie but Pulp Fiction comes a close 2nd. […]
